    Maa Shailputri is believed to be the first avatar of Goddess Durga. The first day of navratri begins by commemorating Maa Shailputri. Blessed to Lord Himalaya, Maa Shailputri gets her name from the mighty lofts, Himalayas. The goddess mounts on a bull, and carries a Trishul in one hand, and a lotus flower in another. It’s believed that its auspicious to offer cow milk ghee to Maa Shailputri. Worshipping her is deemed to awake your Mooladhaar Chakra, which blesses you with good attitude, patience and spiritual enlightenment.
     
    Puja Procedure (Poojan Vidhi): Ghat Sthapana and other Puja Rituals:
    1. On the first day of Navratri, take a bath in the morning and vow solemnly. After this, make an altar with fertile earth and sow barley in it. On this altar, place your kalash filled with sacred water. This is your ‘ghatsthapana’. Place Maa Durga’s idol on the kalash. During all the rituals of puja, make sure that you maintain an Akhand Jyoti. (an oil/ghee lamp that alights for 24 hours constantly) While worshipping, keep all the ingredients required for worshipping, facing towards east direction. After this, perform the rituals according to the instructions given below:
    2. Chant the below mentioned mantra, and sprinkle water on yourself as well as the puja ingredients.

      “Om Apavitrah Pavitro va Sarvastha Gatopi va
      Ya Smarate Pundarikaksha Sa Bahantar Shuchi

      ॐ अपवित्र: पवित्रो वा सर्वावस्थां गतोअपी वा |
      य: स्मरेत पुण्डरीकाक्षं स बाहान्तर: शुचि:||

    3. Keep Akshat (sacred rice mixed with turmeric and red vermillion, used for blessing), flower, and water in your palms while praying to the divinity. 
    4. Perform the rituals meticulously.
    5. Perform aarti, and after that distribute prasad amongst everyone.
    6. During Navratri, worship a small girl, and offer her food with some donation.
    7. If the above mentioned ritual cannot be done regularly, it’s advised that on the last navratra(Navmi), worship 9 girls and give them donations.
    8. In the Kanya Pujan( Worshipping of Girls) make sure that you only worship girls aged 2-10.
    9. In the 9 days of navratri, Durga Saptshati and aparajita lessons are believed to manifold the blessings of the divine on you.

    Origin – After Kushmanda form, Goddess Parvati took birth at the home of Daksha Prajapati. In this form the Goddess Parvati was a great Sati and her unmarried form is worshipped as Goddess Brahmacharini.

    Navratri Worship – Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped on the second day of Navratri.

    Governing Planet and Rudraksh  – It is believed that Lord Mangal, the provider of all fortunes, is governed by Goddess Brahmacharini. Three mukhi rudraksh should be worn

    Iconography – Goddess Brahmacharini is depicted as walking on the bare feet. She has two hands and She carries Jap Mala in the right hand and Kamandal in the left hand.

    Details – Goddess Brahmacharini did severe penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. She performed hard austerity and due to which She was called Brahmacharini.

    It is stated that during her penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband She spent 1000 years on the diet of flowers and fruits and another 100 years on the diet on leafy vegetables while sleeping on the floor.

    Further She followed strict fasting regimen while staying at open place in scorching summers, harsh winters and stormy rains. According to Hindu mythologies She was on diet of Bilva leaves for 3000 years while She prayed to Lord Shankar. Later She even stopped eating Bilva leaves and continued her penance without any food and water. She was known as Aparna when She left eating Bilva leaves.

    As legends go Goddess Brahmacharini immolated herself by wishing to get a father in her next birth who can respect her husband Lord Shiva.

    Maa Chandraghanta blesses her devotees on the 3rd auspicious day of the Shardiya Navratri. The goddess is believed to govern the planet Venus, which is the bearer of culture, luxury, and refinement in our lives.

    The third day of Shardiya Navratri commemorates Maa Chandraghanta, the goddess of peace and welfare. Maa Chandraghanta’s forehead is adorned by a half moon(chandra), which looks like a bell, and hence the name, ChandraGhanta. Her aura is sparkling gold and she’s pictured with ten hands. Goddess Chandraghanta mounts on a tiger and sits upright in a posture which depicts her ready to go to war with all her weapons that she is carrying, Trishul, Gada, sword, and bow and arrow. She has a Japa mala and a Kamandal as well, symbolising her solemn nature. It is believed that the goddess likes milk as her offering. By worshipping Maa Chandraghanta, we activate our Manipur Chakra. Maa Chandraghanta is believed to bless her devotees with bliss, tranquility, and splendor in life.
    Origin – Goddess Chandraghanta is the married form the Goddess Parvati. After getting married to Lord Shiva Goddess Mahagauri started adorning her forehead with half Chandra and due to which Goddess Parvati was known as Goddess Chandraghanta.

    Navratri Worship – Goddess Chandraghanta is worshipped on the third day of Navratri.

    Governing Planet and Rudraksh – It is believed that the planet Shukra is governed by Goddess Chandraghanta. Kamal Gata Maala , Opal stone .

    Iconography – Goddess Chandraghanta mounts on the tigress. She wears the semi-circular moon (Chandra) on her forehead. The half-moon on her forehead looks like the bell (Ghanta) and because of that she is known as Chandra-Ghanta. She is depicted with ten hands. Goddess Chandraghanta carries Trishul, Gada, Sword and Kamandal in her four left hands and keeps the fifth left hand in Varada Mudra. She carries lotus flower, Arrow, Dhanush and Japa Mala in her four right hands and keeps the fifth right hand in Abhaya Mudra.

    Details – This form of Goddess Parvati is peaceful and for welfare of her devotees. In this form Goddess Chandraghanta is ready for the war with all her weapons. It is believed that the sound of the moon-bell on her forehead expel all type of spirits away from her devotees.

    The 4th day of Shardiya Navratri commemorates Maa Kushmanda, avatar of Maa Bhagwati. As the popular belief states, with just a flash of her radiant smile the goddess created the whole universe (Brahmanda) and thus the name, Kushmanda came into being. It is also believed that when the universe had no form and darkness cocooned it, Maa Kushmanda with her laughter spawned the universe to the form that we know today. Due to this, she’s known as Aadishakti or Aadiswaroopa of the universe. Maa Kushmanda has 8 arms, which popularised her another name Ashtbhuja. Her seven hands carry Kamandal, Bow, Arrow, Lotus flower, Amrit Kalash, Chakra, and Gada, and the eighth hand carries a Jap mala which delivers Siddhis and Niddhis. The goddess likes ‘Malpua’ as her offering. Worshipping Maa Kushmanda activates the Anahat Chakra, which cures all health ailments, sadness, and ends your sorrows.
    Origin – After taking form of Siddhidatri, Goddess Parvati started living inside the center of the Sun so that He can liberate energy to the universe. Since then Goddess is known as Kushmanda. Kushmanda is the Goddess who has the power and capability to live inside the Sun. The glow and radiance of her body is as luminous as that of the Sun.

    Navratri Worship – Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped on the fourth day of Navratri.

    Iconography – Goddess Siddhidatri rides on the lioness. She is depicted with eight hands. She has Kamandal, Dhanush, Bada and Kamal in the right hands and Amrit Kalash, Jap Mala, Gada and Chakra in the left hands in that order.

    Details – Goddess Kushmanda has eight hands and because of that She is also known as Ashtabhuja Devi. It is believed that all the power to bestow Siddhis and Niddhis are located in her Jap Mala.

    It is stated that She created the whole universe, which is called Brahmanda (ब्रह्माण्ड) in Sanskrit, by just flashing little bit of her smile. She also likes Bali of white pumpkin known as Kushmanda (कुष्माण्ड). Due to her association with Brahmanda and Kushmanda She is popularly known as Goddess Kushmanda.

    Goddess Skandamata blesses her worshippers on the 5th day of the Shardiya Navratri. The goddess is believed to govern the planet Mercury, who influences our communication skills, intellect, and logical reasoning.

    On the 5th day of the Shardiya Navratri, Maa Skandamata is worshipped. The day commemorates the mother of ‘Skanda’ (Kartikeya) that’s why the name. Paying homage to the goddess balances your Vishuddh Chakra, and removes the blockage in your creative and intellectual wisdom.
    Mata mounts a lion and sits in a lotus position, due to which she’s also known as Goddess Padmasana. The goddess has four arms. She carries her son, Skanda Kumar in her right arm, the upper two arms hold a lotus flower each, and her right lower arm is raised in the Abhay mudra. According to a legend, it’s believed that after completing her meditation Goddess Skandamata married Lord Shiva and gave birth to a boy, Skanda. Under the leadership of Lord Skanda, the deities triumphed over the demons. The 5th day of the Shardiya Navratri celebrates the mother of Skanda, Goddess Skandamata who imbues us with good values, health, wealth, and prosperity. It’s auspicious to use orange color and bananas while paying homage to the goddess.
    Origin – When Goddess Parvati became the mother of Lord Skanda (also known as Lord Kartikeya), Mata Parvati was known as Goddess Skandamata.

    Navratri Worship – Goddess Skandamata is worshipped on the fifth day of Navratri.

    Governing Planet and Rudraksh – It is believed that the planet Budha is governed by Goddess Skandamata. Four mukhi Rudraksh and Green Emerald are governed by Mata

    Iconography – Goddess Skandamata mounts on the ferocious lion. She carries baby Murugan in her lap. Lord Murugan is also known as Kartikeya and brother of Lord Ganesha. Goddess Skandamata is depicted with four hands. She carries lotus flowers in her upper two hands. She holds baby Murugan in one of her right hand and keeps the other right hand in Abhaya Mudra. She sits on lotus flower and because of that Skandamata is also known as Goddess Padmasana.

    Details – The complexion of Goddess Skandamata is Shubhra (शुभ्र) which describes her white complexion. Devotees who worship this form of Goddess Parvati get the benefit of worshipping Lord Kartikeya. This quality is possessed only by Skandamata form of Goddess Parvati.

    The 6th day of Shardiya Navratri commemorates Goddess Katyayani, who blesses her worshippers with spirituality and knowledge. The goddess governs the planet Jupiter/Guru, who is responsible for luck and good fortune in our life.

    On the sixth day of the Shardiya Navratri, the warrior form of Goddess Parvati is celebrated. This sixth avatar of the Goddess Parvati took birth at Sage Katyayan’s ashram (hence her name, Katyayani) to put an end to the atrocities done by Mahishasura. The goddess has a radiant aura around her. Her magnificent color is due to the sun’s glare imbued in her. The goddess has four arms; the upper right hand is in the Abhaya Mudra, and the lower right hand in Vara Mudra. Left hands carry a Sword and a Lotus flower each. Maa Katyayani’s ‘Vaahan’ is a fierce lion. Worshipping the goddess with full devotion can heighten the chances of unmarried girls getting married. Paying homage to Maa Katyayani activates and balances your Anahat Chakra, which immunes you against diseases, sorrow, and fear. Any stuck work could also be brought back on track with the blessings of Devi Katyayani.
    Origin – To destroy demon Mahishasura, Goddess Parvati took the form of Goddess Katyayani. It was the most violent form of Goddess Parvati. In this form Goddess Parvati is also known as Warrior Goddess.

    The 7th day of Shardiya Navratri celebrates the most ferocious and wild form of Maa Parvati, Goddess Kaalratri, who carts off negative energies from our lives. The goddess governs the planet Saturn, who is a teacher and jury planet. The planet instills discipline and hard work in one’s life.

    The 7th day of Shardiya Navratri commemorates the most fearsome and wildest form of Maa Bhagwati. Maa Kaalratri put an end to the demons and their existence with her powerful and chilling avatar. This ferocious incarnation of Maa Parvati, despite of her appearance, always blesses her devotees with good fortune, which gave her another name, Maa Shubhankari. She has wild and frizzy black hair which are unkempt, a mala around her neck which shines bright like lightning. The goddess has 3 round red eyes, which radiate light and it’s believed that she exhales fire while breathing. Maa Kaalratri has four arms, the right upper arm is in Abhaya Mudra, the other right hand is empty. Left hands carry a cleaver and a lightning torch each. Her mount is a donkey. Paying homage to Maa Kaalratri activates and balances the Bhaanu Chakra, which waives off dark evil entities, spirits, or energies around us. Maa Kaalratri eliminates all kinds of fears and dread from our lives.
    Origin – When the Goddess Parvati removed outer golden skin to kill demons named Shumbha and Nishumbha, She was known as Goddess Kalaratri. Kalaratri is the fiercest and the most ferocious form of Goddess Parvati.

    Navratri Worship – Goddess Kalaratri is worshipped on the seventh day of Navratri.

    Governing Planet – It is believed that the planet Shani is governed by Goddess Kalaratri.

    Iconography – Goddess Kalaratri complexion is dark black and She rides on a donkey. She is depicted with four hands. Her right hands are in Abhaya and Varada Mudra and She carries sword and the deadly iron hook in her left hands.

    Details – Although the Goddess Kalaratri is the most ferocious form of Goddess Parvati, She blesses her devotees with Abhaya and Varada Mudras. Because of her Shubh or auspicious power within her ferocious form Goddess Kalaratri is also known as Goddess Shubhankari (शुभंकरी).

    Maa Kaalratri demolishes the demons and the vices in the world and offers blessings and fortune on her worshippers. This avatar of the goddess elevates the devotees from darkness and gloom to happiness and tranquility. Worshipping her expels any fear of negative entities or energies in one’s life , goddess reduces Saturn’s malefic influence.

    The name of Goddess Kalaratri is also spelled as Goddess Kalratri and Goddess Kaalratri.

    Goddess Mahagauri blesses her worshippers on the 8th day of the Shardiya Navratri. The goddess is believed to govern the north node(Rahu), which influences one’s ego, anger, mentality, lust, and liquor-habit. Rahu also encourages creativity & out of the box thinking.

    Goddess Mahagauri is worshipped on the 8th day of the Shardiya Navratri. The Goddess has a luminous moon crown on her head, also she has this aura about her, so radiant that it attracts anything & everything towards her. She has four arms, in which she carries a Conch(shank), a Chakra, a Bow & Arrow, while the forth one is in Var Mudra. She wears those glittering gem studded earrings, which due to her continuous motion, are always dangling & gives her an elevated look. She mounts a bull & she really digs halwa as an offering. Paying homage to her activates the lunar cycle(som chakra), which bails you out of your miseries & crisis, it also frees you from your personal disappointments, while increasing affluency & prosperity in your life. This 8th incarnation of the Goddess Mahagauri is often believed to bring peace & harmony, while showering us with happiness & good fortune, in abundance.
    Origin – According to Hindu mythologies, the Goddess Shailputri at the age of sixteen was extremely beautiful and was blessed with fair complexion. Due to her extreme fair complexion she was known as Goddess Mahagauri.

    Navratri Worship – Goddess Mahagauri is worshipped on the eighth day of Navratri.

    Governing Planet rudraksh- It is believed that the planet Rahu is governed by Goddess Mahagauri.Eight Faced / Mukhi Rudraksh and Hassonite /Gomed stone are governed by Maata

    Iconography – The mount of Goddess Mahagauri as well as Goddess Shailputri is bull and because of that she is also known as Vrisharudha (वृषारूढ़ा). Goddess Mahagauri is depicted with four hands. She carries Trishul in one right hand and keeps the second right hand in Abhaya Mudra. She adorns Damaru in the one left hand and keeps the second left hand in Varada Mudra.

    Details – As name suggests, Goddess Mahagauri is extremely fair. Due to her fair complexion Goddess Mahagauri is compared with the conch, the moon and the white flower of Kunda (कुंद). She adorns white clothes only and due to that She is also known as Shwetambardhara (श्वेताम्बरधरा).

    Please do Kanya poojan on both the 8th and the 9th day of the Shardiya Navratri, the shastra stresses great importance on doing it on the 8th day. Now, we will find out how to worship each girl depending upon her age.

    Kanya poojan & it’s advantages

     
    1. One thing, that you have to always keep in mind, while doing kanya poojan is that the 9 girls should be aged between 2 – 10.
    2. Worship every girl, with a specific mantra, according to her age, which are as follows.

      2 year old – Komatye namah (कौमाटर्यै नमः)
      3 year old – Trimurtiye namah (त्रिमूर्तये नमः)
      4 year old – Kalyanye namah (कल्याण्यै नमः)
      5 year old – Rohinye namah (रोहिण्य नमः)
      6 year old – Kaalikaye namah (कालिकायै नमः)
      7 year old – Chandikarye namah (चण्डिकार्य नमः)
      8 year old – Shambhavye namah (शम्भव्यै नमः)
      9 year old – Durgaaye namah (दुर्गायै नमः)
      10 year old – Sobhrudraye namah (सुभद्रायै नमः)

    3. Wash their feet & give them two clothings each.
    4. While applying the kumkum teeka you have to chant the respective mantra’s as stated in the 2nd point.
    5. Once the pooja is complete,feed the girls & don’t forget to add something sweet in their meal.
     
    NOTE :It is not mandatory to start the pooja with a total of 9 girls , if due to any reason you fail to find 9 girls, you can make do with two girls as well. 
     
    It is mentioned in the shastra’s that, to get Lord Shiva as the groom, goddess Parvati underwent asutere absolution due to which her body turned black. Impressed by her absolute devotion, the lord paid her a visit as he bathed her with gangajal, which changed the color of her body from black to milky white & this is how she got her name Maa Mahagauri. The goddess mounts an albino bull, wearing a white attire. It’s propitious to use sky blue colored things like clothes & bangles etc while paying homage to the goddess Mahagauri.

    Devi Avatar: Maa Siddhidatri

     
    Goddess Siddhidatri blesses her worshippers on the 9th day of the Shardiya Navratri. The goddess is believed to govern the shadowy planet South Lunar Node(Ketu) who influences fire or accidents, past karma, broken relations, magical powers, assassinations, deep thinking, and desire for knowledge, changing events, spiritual growth, comets, cheating  and mental illness.

    On the 9th day of the Shardiya Navaratri, the 9th incarnation of Aadishakti Navadurga, Maa Siddhidatri is worshipped. She is called Maa Siddhidatri as she is known to provide sidhi to her followers. She is depicted with four hands, she has a Gada in her lower right hand, in the upper one she carries a Chakra, in her upper left hand, she has Conch(shank) & she follows that up with a lotus in the lower left. Maa Siddhidatri sits on a lotus flower. She is very fond of kheer, which is what her worshippers proffer her with. Worshipping her, activates the Nirvarn chakra which in turn liberates you, & helps you procure absolute & complete knowledge about your own conscious, it also emancipates you from all your hassles in life. If you perform Kanya poojan on this day, it is considered to be very fruitful & would surely help your cause. According to old legendary tales, it is believed that Lord Shiva started with the worshipping of Maa Siddhidatri in order to accomplish complete harmony(sidhi) in life. The goddess, impressed by the unbending austerity shown by Lord Shiva, concluded his search for sidhi & in this process Lord Shiva lost half his body to Maa Siddhidatri, after which he came to be known as Ardh-narishvar.
     
    Origin – In the beginning of the universe Lord Rudra worshipped Adi-Parashakti for creation. It is believed that Goddess Adi-Parashakti had no form. The supreme Goddess of Power, Adi-Parashakti, appeared in the form of Siddhidatri from the left half of Lord Shiva.

    Navratri Worship – Goddess Siddhidatri is worshipped on the ninth day of Navratri.

    Details – She is the Goddess who possesses and bestows all type of Siddhis to her devotees. Even Lord Shiva got all Siddhis by grace of Goddess Siddhidatri. She is worshipped by not only humans but also by Deva, Gandharva, Asura, Yaksha and Siddha. Lord Shiva got the title of Ardha-Narishwar when Goddess Siddhidatri appeared from his left half.

    Dussehra is one of the most auspicious Hindu festival, & often has a different meaning for different sets of people. For some, this day marks the end of the nine divine days of the Shardiya Navratri ; whilst for others, it is the day which teaches, triumph of good over evil; and for some, Dussehra is all about enjoying the fireworks by burning effigies of the Demon Ravana. 
     

    Dussehra Puja Vidhi

     
    To perform the Dussehra Puja in the right way, simply follow these steps
    1. Draw image of Dussehra using flour or Chuna (limestone)
    2. Put 9 cow dung cakes
    3. Using cow dung, prepare 2 bowls (Katori) with lid
    4. Place some coins in one bowl
    5. Put rice, fruits, roli (sacred thread) and Juwara (wheat or barley kernels) in the other bowl
    6. Now offer banana, jaggery, radish and Gawar Phali (cluster beans)
    7. Light Dhoop or Agarbatti 
    8. Do Parikrama
    9. Worship the old Bahi Khata (account books) and offer rice, fruits, roli and Jhuwara
    10. Take out the money from the bowl and keep in a safe place
    11. Now offer food and alms to the Brahmins
    12. Besides performing this Puja Vidhi, you can also perform Shastra Puja:
    • If you are a soldier: worship your guns and other weapons 
    • If you are a carpenter: worship your carpentry tools
    • If you are an accountant: worship your account books
    • If you are a cook: worship your kitchen essentials
     
    Irrespective of the profession that you practice  Dussehra is the best day to honor the helpful objects or tools used by you in your field. 
    People have done fasting puja , or even otherwise all should perform DASHANSH HAWAN at home on 10th day of Navratri i.e. Dusshera day early morning , its  must .
     
    Southern states of India conceive Dussehra to be the day of Goddess Saraswati, often yielded as the Goddess of learning. Here, it is believed to be propitious to embark the education of young children on the day of Vijayadashmi. So, if you are a student, paying homage and honoring your study materials akin as pen, pencils, books, etc. can do wonders for your studies. Try this, on this Dussehra and we firmly believe that you will experience some sort of a change in the way you lead your life.
    Dussehra is celebrated on the day when Dashami Tithi (tenth date) of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of Ashwin month is prevailing during the Aparahan Kaal. The festival is celebrated to remark the victory of good over evil because on this day, Lord Rama had killed Ravan. At some places, the festival is also known as Vijayadashami, as it is believed to be associated with the Goddess Vijaya. Some people also know this festival as Ayudhapuja.

    About Dussehra Muhurat , DATED 30TH SEPTEMBER ,2017

    1.  Dusshera is celebrated on the Ashwin Shukla Dashami during Aparahan Kaal. This Kaal is the duration of the time which begins from the tenth Muhurat after sunrise and ends before the twelfth Muhurat.
    2.  If Dashami is prevailing for 2 days and Aparahan Kaal is being covered only during the second day, Dussera will be celebrated on the second day only.
    3.  If Dashami is prevailing during the Aparahan Kaal of 2 days, Dushera will be celebrated on the first day only.
    4.  If Dashami is prevailing through the 2 days but not in the Aparahan Kaal of any day, Dussehra festival will be celebrated on the first day.

    Shravan Nakshatra also affects the Muhurat of Dusherra. The logics are given below:

    1.  If Dashami is prevailing through the 2 days (whether in Aparahan Kaal or not), but Shravan Nakshatra is prevailing through the Aparahan Kaal of the first day only, Vijaydashmi will be celebrated on the first day.
    2.  If Dashami is prevailing through the 2 days (whether in Aparahan Kaal or not), but Shravan Nakshatra is prevailing through the Aparahan Kaal of the second day only, Vijayadashmi will be celebrated on the second day.
    3.  If Dashami Tithi is prevailing for 2 days, but Aparahan Kaal is being covered on the first day only, Dashami is running till the first 3 Muhurats of the second day, and Shravan Nakshatra is prevailing during the Aparahan Kaal of the second day; in this condition,Dussehra celebration will be held on the second day.
    4.  If Dashami is prevailing through the Aparahan of first day and till the less than 3 Muhurats of second day, Vijaya Dasami will be celebrated on the first day rejecting all other conditions of Shravan Nakshatra.

    Dussehra Puja & Celebration

    Aparajita Puja is performed during Aparahan Kaal. The Puja Vidhi is given below:

    1.  Find a pious and auspicious place to worship in the Northeast direction from your home. It can be the vicinity of a temple, garden, etc. It will be great if the entire family can be involved in the Puja. However, individuals may also perform it alone.
    2.  Clean the area and make Ashtadal Chakra (the ring of 8 lotus petals) with Sandalwood paste.
    3.  Now, take Sankalp that you are performing this Puja of Goddess Aparajita for the welfare of your family and yourself.
    4.  After that, invoke Goddess Aparajita in the centre of the Chakra with this Mantra: “अपराजिताय नमः”
    5.  Now, on her right invoke Goddess Jaya with the Mantra: “क्रियाशक्त्यै नमः”
    6.  On her left, invoke Goddess Vijaya with the Mantra: “उमायै नमः”
    7.  After that, perform Shodashopchar Puja with the name Mantras: “अपराजिताय नमः”, “जयायै नमः”, “विजयायै नमः”
    8.  Now, pray – “O Goddess, I have performed the Puja rituals as per my ability, kindly accept it before departing.”
    9.  As the Puja is over now, perform Namaskar.
    10.  Perform Visarjan with the Mantra: “हारेण तु विचित्रेण भास्वत्कनकमेखला। अपराजिता भद्ररता करोतु विजयं मम।”

    Aparajita Puja is the main part of Vijay Dashmi for the worshippers. However, there are some other worships that are done on this day; check them below:

    1.  When sun sets and few stars get visible, this duration is called Vijaya Muhurat. In this duration, any Pooja or work can be initiated for the best results. Lord Rama had defeated the King of Lanka, Ravana by starting his journey for the war in this Muhurat. At this time only, a Shami tree had taken the bow of Arjuna (this bow was named “Gandiva”) to keep it safe.
    2.  Dushera day is considered one among the most auspicious days of the year. It is one of the Sadhe Teen Muhurats {three and a half most auspicious Muhurats of the year – Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, Ashvin Shukla Dashami, Vaishakh Shukla Tritiya, and Kartik Shukla Pratipada (half Muhurat)}. The entire day is considered auspicious for beginning or doing anything. However, certain Muhurats can be considered for some particular Pujas.
    3.  Kshatriyas, warriors, and soldiers worship their weapons, which is known as Ayudh Puja. They also perform Shami Pujan. In the old days of Kingship, this festival was mainly considered for the Kshatriyas (royals and warriors).
    4.  Brahmins worship Goddess Saraswati.
    5.  Vaishya worship their ledgers.
    6.  Navratri Ramlila, which is organized at many places, comes to an end.
    7.  Victory of Lord Rama is celebrated by setting ablaze the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghanada.
    8.  It is believed that reciting the ‘Aparajita Stotra’ of Bhagwati Jagdamba on this day is very auspicious.
    9.  In Bengal, the grand Durga festival is concluded.

    Dussehra Legend

    As per the beliefs, the festival got its name Dussara because on this day, Lord Rama had killed the ten-headed (Das Sar) demon, Ravana. Since then, the 10 heads of Ravana effigies are burnt considering each of them as the manifestation of lust, anger, greed, delusion, intoxication, envy, selfishness, injustice, inhumanity, and ego.

    Duryodhan had defeated Pandavas in the game of gambling. As promised beforehand, Pandavas had to go for 12 years of exile along with an extra year of hidden life. In that last one year, they had to stay hidden from everyone and if found by anyone, they would repeat their 12 years of exile. For that one year, Arjuna had hidden his bow, Gandiva on a Shami tree and worked for King Viraat with the fake identity of Brihannala. When the son of the King asked Arjuna to help him in protecting the cows, Arjuna brought back his bow from the Shami tree and defeated the enemy.

    Another legend states that when Lord Rama began his journey toward Lanka for the war, Shami tree had announced the victory of the Lord.
